The Epic Letter To “The Core”
Whenever I hear a phrase or song lyric slightly resembling this, I always think how cliche and completely meaningless it sounds since it’s hardly ever true. But with you guys, I felt like we could set the world on fire. We owned those streets and cities we knew well, and we never associated them with anything bad. They were unfamiliar, though we’d known them all our lives. The special thing about us what that we all tried to act so cool because we were young and scared for the world to accept us for who we were: Complete Losers. But with each other, we were different. We transformed into our real, amazing selves and didn’t think about how we’d lose the “rep” we’d carefully made for everyone else to see. For some of us, it meant letting our funny side show, for others, it meant sticking up for what we believed; being bold. And for others, still, it meant opening up to love. Each of us, though loving the group as a whole, had special reason to love us individually as well. None of us felt too proud to laugh or cry in front of the rest. We all called someone different each time we were upset, all of us have spent endless hours on the phone with another of us, crying their eyes out about who-knows-what, but we were there for each other, even if we were mad at that person. We all know about true friendship because we had each other, and those are memories I will never dare to forget. So, Khaylan, Donald, Taylor, Eric, and Courtney, I love you all, each in different ways, but none more than the rest.
